Everything parents ask us before their first Workshop.
What is the difference between a Holiday Programme and an Artz On Show Holiday Workshop?
While many holiday programmes focus primarily on supervision and entertainment, our Workshops are purposefully designed to be educational, creative, and confidence building. Each day includes structured classes that develop self confidence, self esteem, creativity, teamwork, and communication through the performing arts.
How do we enrol?
Click 'Enrol Now', choose the Workshop theme and dates, choose your location, fill out the form and complete payment. If you have more than one child, use 're enrol' to go through the process again. Families with 3+ kids should contact us directly to arrange the family discount.
What time does the Workshop run each day?
On site from 8:30am, classes begin at 9:00am. Monday–Thursday finishes at 4:00pm, with parents welcome from 3:45pm to watch Group Time. Friday is show day. The performance begins at 4:00pm and runs 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Can my child be grouped with their friends?
In nearly all cases, yes. Note this on your enrolment form and we'll do our best to accommodate within our numbers and ratios. AOS reserves the right to change groupings where needed.
What are the age groups?
Groups aim to combine 5–6 year olds, 7–9 year olds, and 10+, though this can fluctuate with numbers. Larger locations split these further.
How big are the groups?
Capped at 18–20 per age group, depending on venue and final staffing.
What are the Workshop locations?
Epsom: Raye Freedman Arts Centre. Karaka: Karaka Memorial Hall. Howick: Howick College. North Shore: Takapuna Normal Intermediate School. Hamilton: Southwell School.
What does a typical day look like?
Children rotate through six 40 minute disciplines with a Brain Break or Meal Break in between. For example, the Orange Group's (5 year olds) Monday might include Jazz, Drama, Morning Tea, Art, Vocals, Lunch, Hip Hop, Characterisation, and Group Time.
How do you cater for children with various learning needs?
At our Workshops we have Brain Breaks scheduled between every class where they can have a snack, go to the toilet, or sometimes our Tutors play games to finish their class. On top of this we do have children attend our Workshops who need additional Brain Breaks so our Managers will give them the option to have a quick break during their classes. We have sensory toys that children can also use during this time. We do have Children attend our Workshops who are neuro-diverse and they often have classes they do not enjoy or do not want to participate in. We are flexible when it comes to this and will follow the child's lead. We brief all staff on any learning needs when provided in the enrolment form and have various training modules about these. Some of our children also require visual timetables, if requested, this will be prepared to use at your childs Workshop.
What is the Early Bird Price?
Book for the next Workshop before the listed expiry date on the Workshop page and secure the Earlybird Price of $359.
What payment options are available?
Debit/credit card via our enrolment form (non refundable $50 deposit or full fee), direct bank transfer and payment plans by request, or card/payWave/exact cash on arrival. We also offer payment plans that are flexible and can suit you best. Contact us to arrange!
What happens if we can't attend after booking?
The deposit is non refundable, but any remaining balance can be transferred to another Workshop within the same calendar year, provided at least one week's notice before the Workshop begins. Each deposit may be transferred once only.
Do you have a discount for multiple children?
10% off for 3 children from one family. This can't be combined with any other offer — contact us directly to arrange it.
What does my child need to bring?
A packed lunch and a drink bottle (children can't leave the venue and kitchen facilities aren't always available), an art shirt or old clothing, and a quiet time activity like a book or colouring. We are unable to facilitate Uber Eats or similar within our Workshops.
When is the show?
All students perform on the final day at 4:00pm. Note: our Christmas Workshop (Epsom only) doesn't include a final performance due to the busy December period. Parents can also join daily from 3:45pm for end of day celebrations.
